Not unfriendly.

I haven't done maintenance on my friends list in half of forever. That wasn't a problem until yesterday, when I friends-locked a post for the first time. I tried to update by going through the list of people who'd friended me, but had a buffer overload on pseudonyms.

If you're a friend and I've left you out, could you please give me a nudge?

Addendum:

You're an excessively modest bunch.

Want to know the second-biggest reason I wasn't maintaining my list? It's because I always wind up sitting there, staring at a long column of pseudonyms, trying to figure out who they are. It's not rejection or unfriendliness; it's just buffer overload.

I think I've friended everyone. I'll double-check if I have time.

Thank you all for the nudge.

Well, you know me (check my info; since you're on my list, you'll see everything), and I consider you a friend even though I see you maybe once a year now, if that... but I won't presume that you want me to read locked entries. FWIW, I am comfortable having you read any of my locked stuff. I would be honoured if you did add me!

I don't know you personally, but I read and enjoy Making Light. Though I don't list my real last name anywhere on my LJ, I can assure you that I am who I say I am.

With this kerfuffle going on, I understand if you don't add me, but I just wanted to put that out there.

Same here. I post as Summer Storms on Making Light, and this is me, too. (Just so you'll know I'm consistently me, even if not many people read me. In real life I'm Karen Grant Hopkins or K.G. Hopkins, which I don't expect you to be familiar with, but there we are: full disclosure.)

You've got me as a friend under my RL name elsewhere, and we've met via Lisa and Mac

**waving hi** I attended VP6, & we've also met at several Boskones & Readercons. (I try to keep a firewall between my LJ handle & my RL name because I occasionally post about work or family, but I promise I'm not a troll!)

Hi. This is John Chu. (I gave up on the notion of my LJ pseudonym being anonymous a while ago. If nothing else, until I have a Real Website, I need something to point my domain name at. Also, I was always operating under the assumption that, if people wanted to, they could figure out my identity anyway.)

I certainly consider you a real life friend. (The next time we talk on the phone though, I hope it's under less disturbing circumstances.) However, I understand if you don't want to LJ friend all of your VP students. There must be at least a hundred of us.

We've met more than once, and I'm pretty sure you'd recognize my full name from that as well as comments on ML over the years. Like quarkwiz , I don't presume that necessarily means you want me reading your locked posts or anything.

The friendly blue shark is a remarkably good'un, Teresa. You've probably long since picked up on that, 'cause your radar notices the quiet ones whose very presence make a room better, and pretty much any conversation, too.

Much love from me to you and Patrick. Always.

To lighten your workload, you don't know me. But for the record, my real name is Helen Wright.

Are you the Helen Wright? Author of Matter of Oaths? I love that book.

Hi, Teresa!

This is Linda Daly from VPX. If you're including former students are on your flist, I'd like to be added.

(And I certainly understand if you're using a narrower definition of 'friend'.)

Like several others here, I've met you a few times at various cons (Boskone, Minicon, 4th Street, etc.) and I mostly lurk on Making Light, but I wouldn't expect you to friend me back. I'm mostly commenting so you can cross another name off your list.

I wouldn't consider myself a friend, but your phone number is in my phone from Kalamazoo where we went to dinner. *grins* Sisuile from Making Light.

Hi, I'm not a r-l friend, but I would like to be a friend to you. I used to read pnh 's lj.

We don't know each other well, but I've greatly enjoyed lurking at Making Light, and friending people is the best way for me to see when a new post shows up on LJ.

My LJ name is the same as my True Name, but to add some background to that I owned The Stars Our Destination bookstore in Chicago (closed in 2004).

Hi. I am Tom Womack, I write from time to time on Making Light, I have been over-awed by you in the flesh at a couple of Minicons back in the dawning days of this century.

Hi, I'm Justin Miller. You don't know me personally, but I lurk and occasionally (rarely) comment at Making Light. And I very much enjoy Patrick's music with Whisperado.

My wife and I have been inspired by your double last name and have adopted the same model for ourselves. We are beginning our campaign to convince everyone to recognize our new last name, and take solace in the fact that the two of you have managed it for thirty years. So for now I am still Justin Miller, but as soon as I can convince a handful of government agencies (including the one for which I work) to recognize it, I'll be Justin Miller Bernhardt.

All of which is to say you don't know me personally and I won't be offended if you don't include me as a friend, but I would be honored to be included.

More a fan than a friend, but you're the sort I'd choose if we lived nearer to each other.

Crazy(and, of course, if you were likewise minded - but I could relate to a certain caution towards 'fans')Soph
